UNIBEN signs MoU with China varsity on teacher-student exchange programme

As part of efforts to promote international collaboration with other universities, the University of Benin received a delegation from Fujian Jiangxia University, China, and sealed the visit with a Memorandum of Understanding between the two Universities.

The Head, Public Relations and Protocol Unit of UNIBEN, Emmanuel Orekha, said the delegation was led by President of the university, Prof. Ling Quidan.

The host Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, who received the team with Principal Officers, Provosts, Deans and Directors in attendance, gave a brief on the rich Benin culture and heritage.

The VC also spoke on the establishment of UNIBEN as an institution of higher learning to produce the requisite manpower to oil the wheel of progress of the Nigerian nation.

Professor Omoregie highlighted the significance of the collaboration between the two universities, which is in furtherance of his administration’s five-point agenda as it relates to international collaborations, and sustainable development.

An obviously elated President of Fujian Jiangxia University, China, Prof. Quidan said he was impressed with the high level of innovation and sophistication that the University of Benin has attained and was optimistic that the partnership will bring more development to both universities.

The partnership is expected to explore and expand teacher- student exchanges, scientific research co-operations among others.
