The Governing Council of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) led by Air Vice-Marshal Saddiq Ismaila Kaita (Rtd), has ratified the appointment of Prof. Aisha Sani Maikudi, as the Acting Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University.
Dr Habib Yakoob, Acting Director, Information and University Relations, UniAbuja, in a statement, on Friday, noted that the ratification was announced shortly after the inaugural meeting of the Council held in Abuja, on Friday.
Prof. Maikudi, had few days ago, taken over the administration of the University on Acting capacity following the expiration of the five-year tenure of the former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah.
She was earlier recommended for the position of the Acting VC by the Senate of the University few weeks ago, in accordance with the provisions of Section 4, subsection (4b) of the University of Abuja Acts, and section 5(13) of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act 2003.

Meanwhile, in her response, she urged each member of the Governing Council to bring in their wealth of experience, expertise, and passion to bear in fulfilling the collective mission of the council and the institution.
She said: “Your leadership and vision are crucial in guiding our university through these challenging times, and towards a future of sustained growth and excellence.
“We have this opportunity to work collaboratively and tirelessly towards realizing the full potential of the University of Abuja. We also need to build on our past achievements, address our current challenges, and create a brighter future for our institution and all its stakeholders.”
