UN Women Nigeria has distanced itself from an upcoming event being promoted by a group identified as “Peace Ambassadors,” reportedly scheduled to hold at the UN House.

In a statement, the organisation clarified that although it previously engaged with the organisers on aspects of the proposed programme, it was neither informed of nor approved any activities involving fundraising or the sale of awards linked to the event.

UN Women Nigeria said its attention was drawn to social media materials suggesting its endorsement and featuring the unauthorised use of its name and logo.

The organisation categorically dissociated itself from any fundraising, award sales, or related promotional activities connected to the event, stressing that such actions fall outside the scope of its agreed collaboration.

It noted that it maintains strict standards governing the use of its identity and partnerships, adding that any representation involving financial solicitation or commercial activity without approval constitutes a breach of its policies.

UN Women Nigeria disclosed that it has formally requested the immediate removal of all unauthorised references to its name and is taking further steps to address the situation.

The agency advised members of the public to rely only on its official communication channels for accurate information about its programmes and partnerships.

It reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the rights and empowerment of women and girls through transparent and accountable partnerships.
