Valencia coach, Carlos Corberan was left pleased with Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq’s attitude in the Black Bats 2-0 Copa del Rey win at Eldense on Tuesday night.
Los Che won via goals from Sergi Canos and Diego Lopez.
Corberan later said, “The team has played with the necessary attitude to get through to the next round.
On Umar Sadiq’s debut, he added: “From day one he has come with the necessary attitude and mentality to play for Valencia CF. Whoever comes must come with that commitment and that intention to help. Today was a first step where he has shown that attitude necessary for this moment.”
Umar made his debut for Valencia in a commanding 2-0 victory over Eldense in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday.
The Nigerian forward, who joined the club on loan from Real Sociedad, had been registered by LaLiga just days earlier and was eagerly anticipated to make his first appearance for Valencia.
Valencia quickly asserted dominance, with Sergi Canós opening the scoring in the 9th minute, finishing a well-timed cross from Diego López.
The early goal settled the visitors into a rhythm, and they continued to press for more, with Eldense struggling to break through Valencia’s defense.
Umar, who entered the match as a substitute in the 58th minute, was involved in a few key moments.
His first chance came in the 91st minute when he took a shot from outside the box, which was saved by Eldense’s goalkeeper, Dani Martín.
He had another opportunity moments later, again testing Martín with a right-footed attempt from a similar range.
Umar also had an offside call go against him and received a yellow card for a foul late in the game.
Umar’s debut performance, though not marked by a goal, showcased his ability to get involved in attacking situations and his potential to contribute as Valencia heads into the remainder of their campaign.
