The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has commended Abia State Governor Alex Otti for the support he is giving President Bola Tinubu and his achievements, especially in the area of infrastructure which has endeared him to the people of the state.

This is even as the Old Bende Progressive Union (OBPU), Abia South Chapter, has endorsed Otti for a second term in office.

Umahi gave the commendation at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, during a grand civic reception organised in honour of the Governor by the Old Bende Progressive Union, Abia South Chapter.

The Old Bende communities are made up of some local government Areas, including Arochukwu, Isuikwuato, Bende, Ohafia, Ikwuano, Umunneochi, Umuahia South, Umuahia North, and Edda ommunities in Ebonyi State.

“Governor, let me tell you something, apart from being the same blood with you, your love for the President, your development of the entire Abia State, no matter what anybody says, I will continue to support you, and the President will continue to support you.

“Politics is about development. When you see somebody who is developing his people, Abia never had it like this before, and that is why I love you people because you appreciate what is good. When a change has happened, then you acknowledge it.” Umahi stated.

Umahi used the opportunity to announce on behalf of Mr President, the official hand over of some Federal roads and projects to Governor Otti for fixing and completion; including Umuahia-Ikot-Ekpene road, Umuahia-Onuimo road, Ohafia-Arochukwu road, Omenuko Bridge among others and urged the people to sustain their support to the governor.

“When it comes to the development of this country, the President does not want to know which party you belong to. The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has so much love for your governor, and your governor loves President Bola Ahmed Tinubu very well.

“I was passing through Aba today, you will not understand, you can pick a pin on the streets of Aba. You will not see any disorderliness because of this great man, the Governor of Abia State.”

Speaking, Otti said it is still early days for Abians as his achievements so far are just the beginning of great things to come to the State.

The governor noted that some of the modest contributions his administration has made were imbedded in the brochure.

“But, I would like to assure our people that this is still early morning. As of two days ago, we had just done 29 months and there is still a lot of work to be done.

“I have listened to the request of DIG Udah and thank God it is written. And I have already forwarded that to the Honourable Commissioner for Works so that we will begin work on them”, Gov. Otti stated.

Beyond road infrastructure, the governor said he considers good governance as something very important.

Governor Otti used the opportunity to reiterate that 2027 elections are in the hand of God and warned those boasting about 2027 to stop as no one can predict tomorrow.

He thanked the Old Bende people for hosting him, while also saluting them for honouring Prof. Nnennaya Otti, the INEC Returning Officer for the 2023 general election for the role she played.

Meanwhile, the OBPU has announced its endorsement of Otti for a second term in office.

The Chairman of the Union, DIG Azubuko Udah (Rtd.), who spoke with journalists at the reception ground said the endorsement was in recognition of the governor’s achievements.

He lauded Otti for his commendable leadership and urged the Governor to reconstruct some roads in Bende LGA, including the Ozuitem/Umuhu-Ezechi Road.
