The Chairman of the South East Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi has congratulated Nigerians for qualifying for the 2018 World Cup slated to hold in Russia.

Governor Umahi in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Emmanuel Uzor described the victory of the Nigeria’s Super Eagles over their rivals, the Chipolopolo of Zambia in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State as sensational.

He said Nigerian players have demonstrate the undying spirit of oneness and unity by bonding together to decimate their opponents and clinch the first ticket to the World Cup from their group.

While commending the team, Umahi further congratulated Nigerians for making it once again to the highest international mundial, adding that with the victory and qualification of Nigeria to the competition, there is an encouraging light in Nigerian sports.

He called for more dedication on the side of the players and entire technical crew, while assuring that his administration has been at the forefront for the development of sports, which he said, informed his decision to build one of the best stadia in the country in Ebonyi State.

The Governor further assured that the new and renovated Abakaliki Township Stadium would start hosting international sports competitions.
