Some members of the Kano State Council of Ulamas have appealed with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take all necessary steps to maintain peace in the state.

A statement issued yesterday by the clerics expressed worry at the recent happenings in the Emirate, fearing that if not carefully handled, could degenerate into chaos.

The statement, which was signed by one Abdullahi Uwais Limani and eight others, opposed any step that would escalate the conflict rather than resolve it.

“We are calling on Mr President to allow the people of Kano to resolve the issues amicably without the use of any force and loss of any life,” they pleaded.

They stated that the process of enacting the Emirate Law has been completed with the assent of the governor on the bill.

“Therefore, there is no need for violent enforcement of any order or violent resistance to it, and we vehemently oppose any measures that will bring about an escalation of conflict in the state,” they stated.
