The Deputy Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu State Chapter, and Executive Chairman of Igboeze South Local Government Area, Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, has described the recently concluded APC ward, local government and state congresses in Enugu as the best ever conducted by any political party in the state.
Ukwueze said the peaceful and successful exercise across the 260 political wards and 17 local government areas demonstrated overwhelming support for Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as leader of the party in the state.
Speaking with journalists in Enugu on Wednesday, he maintained that the congresses reflected unity, discipline and renewed confidence within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The peaceful, transparent and widely accepted congresses we witnessed across Enugu State clearly show that our party is united and focused. From the wards to the local governments and the state, members freely expressed their will without intimidation or confusion,” he said.
According to him, the level of organisation and acceptance recorded has strengthened confidence in the party’s leadership and reaffirmed members’ trust in Governor Mbah’s vision and direction.

Ukwueze further stated that the party has commenced strategic mobilisation ahead of 2027, declaring that the APC in Enugu is targeting 99.9 per cent of the votes for Governor Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general election.
He added that the party is set to conduct credible primaries in the coming weeks, noting that individuals of proven character and capacity were elected during the congresses to lead the party at both grassroots and state levels.
The ALGON deputy chairman also commended the ward, local government and state congress committees led by Dr Lucky Ógbè, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon and Hon. Loveth Idisi for what he described as professionalism, fairness and commitment, which ensured credibility and peaceful outcomes across the state.
“The orderly manner in which the congresses were conducted has strengthened internal democracy and boosted members’ confidence ahead of future electoral engagements. The exercise has positioned the APC in Enugu State for greater unity, mobilisation and strategic growth,” he added.
He equally praised the outgoing APC Caretaker Committee led by Ben Nwoye, describing the leadership as focused and inclusive, and crediting it with laying the foundation for the smooth conduct of the congresses.
Ukwueze congratulated the newly elected state executive led by Martin Chukwunwike, describing their emergence as historic, peaceful and widely accepted, addign that the outcome reflects renewed strength and a collective determination to reposition the APC for greater political victories in future elections.
