The Federal Polytechnic, Ukana in Essien Udim local government area, Akwa Ibom state has inaugurated entrepreneurship development and skill training centres to celebrate one year anniversary of Mrs Eduma Enobong Essien as the Rector of the institution.
Speaking at the event, the Rector, Mrs Eduma Essien, disclosed that much had been achieved within one year of her assumption of office. She listed some of the achievements recorded within the period as staff capacity department, accreditation of 21 academic programmes covering National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND), students support scholarship scheme and revitalization of medical centre.
Others include completion of Abandoned Tetfund projects, establishment of tissue paper production line, furniture making factory, paint production plant and block-making factory to improve internally generated revenue (IGR) for the institution.

“Today’s event provides an opportunity not only to celebrate leadership but also to account for progress, outcomes and measurable achievements recorded within the academic planning and quality assurance space of the Polytechnic under my stewardship.
“In the months and years ahead, we would work hard to get accreditation for 25 (13 ND and 12 HND more programmes in the Polytechnic.
“We already putting the right facilities and equipment in place to make the process smooth and successful,” she stated.
