UK delegation, APC leader hold talks on 2019 polls

A delegation of the United Kingdom government has visited the national headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to discuss, among other things, the 2019 general elections with the national leadership of the party.

The UK delegation led by the Head of West Africa Department at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in London, Rob Dixon.

During the close door meeting, the APC chairman John Odigie expressed the commitment of the President Muhammadu-led administration to deliver on its 2015 election promises.

Oyegun also highlighted the achievements recorded by the administration in the area of economic diversification, infrastructure, anti-corruption and security, particularly in the country’s North East, thanking the UK government for its continued cooperation and support for the administration.

Speaking to journalists after the close-door meeting,  revealed that the meeting dwelt extensively on the forthcoming 2019 general election and UK’s engagements in Nigeria.

His words: “We talked about the extent of the UK’s engagements in Nigeria and also asked the APC national chairman on his perspectives on political developments in Nigeria.
