Member for Ideato Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, has lauded the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas and the federal government for approving palliative for federal constituencies.
He said the palliatives will ameliorate the deveasting impact of the removal of petroleum subsidy on the people .
Hon Ikenga Imo who is the Chairman House Committee on Petroleum Downstream in a chat with Journalists at weekend at his country home, Akokwa, said the palliative would go a long way in alleviating the plight of the poor constituents.
He noted that the pressure to better the lives of constituents has been much on the lawmakers, hence the need for such palliative.
He disclosed that the contractors have been issued award letters and that this January the contractors will be given a bill of quantity to enable them commence the purchase of the grains .
Said He : As at the end of December the Federal Government through the ministry of has issued the contractors with award letters and this January they will be issued the bills of quantity to enable them to purchase the grains and be able to distribute it to the Federal Constituencies and all us are going to monitor the distribution to ensure that it gets down to the people .So that the impact can be felt, so that the people can heave a sigh of relief of the deveasting effect of the removal of subsidy, which impacted negatively on their businesses .
Continuing , ” I must appreciate our Speaker , Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas and the President and the Federal Government through the ministry Agriculture that initiated the palliatives to ensure all the Federal constituencies. This is supposed to has been in December but because procurement process they were unable to go get it sorted out. But this January they will be given the bill of quantity for the purchase of the grains to be distributed to the people of the constituencies “.
