Luis Enrique, Paris Saint-Germain’s head coach, has explained why his club upset Tottenham Hotspur to win the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday.

Erinque watched as PSG defeated Spurs 4-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in Italy.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero had given Tottenham the lead in the first 84 minutes of the encounter.

But late goals from substitutes Goncalo Ramos and Lee Kang-in sent the game to a penalty shoot-out.

It was the French Ligue 1 champions that emerged victorious during the shootout,, which ended 4-3 in favour of PSG against the Premier League club.

Speaking to PSG TV after the game, Erinque said the Parisians won against Thomas Frank’s side because of ‘miracle’.

“How crazy! That is the word, crazy… I have to say I’m very happy,” Enrique said.

“I don’t think we deserved to win, because the difference between a team like Tottenham, who have had a lot of training, and us, who have only had five training sessions… It’s so different, I think it is a miracle,” he added.

“It’s difficult to play in a Super Cup final because you have to win the Champions League or the Europa League. I’m happy with my players. We’re happy, we’re champions!”
