For Nigeria Reggae Festival’s brand ambassador for the United States of America, Aniete Udofia, reggae music is the weapon and hope the world needs to resolve conflict and ensure peace and social change.
He stated this during a virtual media parley held to unveil him at the Lagos corporate office of Music Africa Awake Foundation (MUAFA), organisers of the festival.
According to Udofia, Nigeria will be making huge gains with the hosting of Nigeria Reggae Festival every year, in terms visitors into the country, especially with her 2020 million population, which is projected to reach 400 million in 2040.
He added that the concert would change the course of history with its theme: ‘Peace Concert’. “We have to also use music and the art to identify what is causing hunger and driving insecurity in the land. It is time we replicate it to address insecurity, energy, water, health, shelter and access to technology. This must be done with fresh lyrically spoken and meaningful content.
“This is the hope that we have for the reggae festival; that musicians will speak for those who don’t have the microphone, and it will touch each and every person in a way that we can build global collaborations to address some of the issues that we are facing today in the world, and also inspire a new generation of artistes to use their music to liberate Africans and the world,” Udofia said.
The ambassador expressed gratitude to the organizers of the festival. Hear him: “I’m very proud and honoured that Music Africa Awake Foundation headed by Prince Emeka Ojukwu has made an avenue for me to be part of the festival. We are mobilizing our organizations: Black Greek and Global Peace Organizations for a trip to Nigeria for the event. I’m inviting not only members of my fraternity but also my other organizations to come and experience Nigeria via the reggae festival. We are also tying it back into an initiative we have done in the past doing business in Nigeria.
We are looking for people who want to travel back, enjoy the music and also participate and train in tourism mission, and at the same time be part of the event.”
Entertainment guru and Wolf Entertainment honcho, Dick Wolf, described his participation in the festival as humbling.
