Arne Slot, Liverpool’s manager, has explained why he left Mohamed Salah on the bench for the entire 90 minutes of their Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Salah was not named to Liverpool’s starting lineup for the quarter-final first leg on Wednesday night.
PSG took control of the game with goals from Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in each half.

But with Liverpool needing at least one goal, Salah was not brought on at the Parc des Princes.
After the match, Slot claimed he didn’t want the Egyptian to spend the last minutes defending in his own box.
He said: “I think in the last part of the game, it was more about surviving for us than there was ever a chance that we could score.
“And Mo has so much quality, but for Mo to be 20, 25 minutes defending inside his own box, I think it’s better for him to save his energy for a lot of games that are coming up in the upcoming weeks.”
