Barcelona midfielder, Rodri said the Spanish champions have a realistic chance of winning this year’s Champions League but could not be considered favourites.
The 30-year-old World Cup Golden Ball winner stated this in an interview with Mundo Deportivo.
The Blaugrana were 5-1 winners against Feyenoord in their UCL opener on September 9.
Rodri said, “The Champions League is achievable, but I don’t think we’re favourites.”
He noted that winning the UCL title would further accentuate the domestic dominance of Hansi Flick’s side.
“Obviously, I see it as a realistic title for us. It’s that final step we need to take to establish ourselves and show Europe what kind of team we are.”
“I don’t think we’re favourites. You have to understand where we’re coming from and what it takes to become champions. This team still needs to polish several things to win it.”
According to the Spanish captain, the presence of experienced players can help plug those areas.
“Players like me have come here partly for that, to help the team grow and provide something that I think is important when it comes to winning titles as unique as the Champions League,” he said.
