Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has blamed manager Michael Carrick’s tactical approach for the club’s 4-1 defeat to Como in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
Nico Paz scored twice for the Serie A side, while Anastasios Douvikas and Jacobo Ramón also found the net to seal an emphatic victory.
Joshua Zirkzee scored a late consolation goal for Manchester United, but it was not enough to prevent the Premier League side from suffering a heavy defeat.
After the game, Fernandes was asked about the team’s display and he revealed the instruction they received from Carrick and his coaches.

“It’s a decision from the staff to not press man-to-man and sometimes leave a little space in behind. To wait for them, to give them the ball,” Fernandes said.
“That’s on the manager and on the staff to see it, it’s not on me.”
United have now failed to win their last seven fixtures in all competitions under Carrick.
