Uchechi Emeloye steps out with new single, Baby You

Afrosoul act and multi-instrumentalist, Uchechi Emeloye, is set to hit the music scene with a new single, Baby You.

The track is coming on the heels of her previously successful works like Little Black, Sunrise to Sundown, and Under Water that won the BBC music introduction. Interestingly, all the releases are strictly in line with her established tradition and standard.

Admired for her lyrical dexterity, Emeloye fondly called Princess of Afrosoul, has been lauded by music lovers and stakeholders for her ability to emotionalise her composition and rhythm.

The new single, Baby You aligns boldly with her kind of music, which addresses realistic themes everyone can relate to, and will be available for streaming on major digital platforms as from August 19.

The song, critics strongly believe, would further deepen Emeloye’s grasp of the Afrosoul genre, largely influenced by her interest in soul music legends, as well as cultural assimilation occasioned by the privilege of being in seven countries and across three continents.

In an interview, the Imo State-born act, who just completed her law studies at United Kingdom Russell League Lancaster University, had hinted thus: “I try to divide my time and compartmentalize it, thereby making it easier to achieve everything. I have found balance in focusing on music on weekends, during summer and Christmas breaks. On the flip side, I focus intensely on studies during term time and weekdays. I sincerely hope to release a full album after I must have graduated.”
