Two prominent members of the nation’s table tennis family have lauded the nomination of Hon Enitan Oshodi by Sportsville as its Sports Personality of the Year, 2026.
Hon Oshodi, the Vice President of the World Table Tennis body, was named by the organizers alongside the Managing Director of Dunamis Icon, Hon Itiako Ikpokpo for the enviable Sports Personality Award in this year’s edition.
According to Tony Uban, the Editor of Sporting Vanguard and one of the most versatile table tennis writers and former National Table Tennis Coach, Babatunde Obisanya, Enitan’s nomination for the prestigious award is most fitting and deserving.
“Honestly, I am thrilled by the choice of Enitan Oshodi for the highly exalted Sports Personality of the year Award by your organization.
“Enitan’s antecedent as one time Chairman of Lagos Table Tennis Association is there for anyone to see, not to talk of his strides in the international and global stage where his administrative acumen has put Nigeria’s name among the A list of table tennis greats
“That the organizers of the annual Sportsville award came out with his choice speaks loud of their intention to keep rewarding those truly deserving of honour,” Ubani whose unique reportage of the game endeared him to the tennis community, added.
In his own reaction, Coach Obisanya was equally full of praises for the organizers for going down memory lane to give honour to whom honour is due.
“When you look at the calibre of awardees year in and year out, you will discover one thing: people who have been outstanding in their contributions to sports in Nigeria
“The choice of Enitan Oshodi does not come to me as a surprise. In terms of those who have paid their dues in the game’s administration, Hon Oshodi is certainly head and shoulders above others.
“That a credible organization like Sportsville is giving out this recognition calls for celebration. Congratulations to my Hon, a good man and a good administrator per excellence!
“I had excellent working relationships with him when he was our Chairman and the transformation he brought into the game is there for all to see.
“His works in Africa and at the global stage are testament to the stuff he is made of,”Obisanya now retired into private service added!
The countdown to April 3rd date is on as awardees and invited guests look forward to the best gathering of sports personalities in Nigeria under one roof.
