From Abel Leonard, Lafia
Lafia Emirate Council has relieved Musa Isa Mustapha Agwai, the son of the late emir, of his traditional title of Ubangarin of Lafia.
A statement by the Emirate Secretary, Rayanu Isa, said the Emirate during its meeting on November 19, 2022 approved the immediate removal of Isa Mustapha Agwai as the Ubangarin Lafia.
The statement, which did not disclose the reason for the sack, noted Usman Isa Baba had been appointed as the new Ubangarin Lafia.
Until his sack, Agwai was the third in command in the hierarchy of traditional titleholders in the Emirate, while the new Ubangarin Lafia before his current traditional title was the Dangaladiman Lafia.
Though no reason was given for the sack, palace sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity said the decision might not be unconnected with alleged insubordination to the Emirate by the former Ubangari.
