From Aloysius Attah, Onitsha
Spiritual leader of Igbo nation and Ogilisi Igbo, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka has placed a curse on those who attacked the convoy of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah at Nkwo Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
In a statement, yesterday, Ezeonwuka condemned the assassination attempt, describing it as a barbaric act not acceptable to the Igbo and humanity in general.
He said the gods of Igboland and the spirits of the ancestors would surely hunt them down.
He also placed a curse on kidnappers, assassins and other criminals terrorising people in various parts of Igboland.
He lamented that the high rate of killings in Igboland undertaken by the Igbo has turned the zone into a laughing stock to the outside world.
He said those killing their fellow Igbo should get ready to face catastrophic ways of death with vultures eating up their dead bodies.
“Let me join millions of well meaning Nigerians in condemning the assassination attempt made against Senator Ifeanyi Ubah at Nkwo Enugwu Ukwu by armed men which resulted in the sudden and unnatural deaths of Senator Ubah’s personal assistants, security aides and Onowu of Nri community who was hit by the assassins’ bullet when he came to drop off his visitor.”
Ezeonwuka warned that those killing others with hope to go scot free were deceiving themselves, because apart from the security agents going after them, the wrath of God who created humanity and nature is also after them.
The Igbo spiritual leader commiserated with families of victims of various unprovoked attacks in the South East, wishing them peaceful rest even as he called on security agencies to work hard and fish out the perpetrators to face justice.
