Uba Sani’s govt at one: Breath of fresh air for Kaduna

By Mohammed Nasir

It’s one whole year since Governor Uba Sani assumed office, in Kaduna State, yet a number of painful polices have disappeared throughout. There is no news of demolishing anyone’s house or shop. No gory tales of dispersing petty traders struggling with very limited income to cater for their families. The news of workers’ sack, which was the norm before Uba’s emergence, has disappeared into the oblivion. In fact, a friend working currently with the state government said the governor blasted a senior official who recommended the sack of some 2,500 workers.

Kaduna is certainly witnessing a government that upholds the philosophy of governance “with human face.”

In a political landscape often dominated by self-serving interests and bureaucratic red tape, Uba Sani’s government in Kaduna State is a welcome exception. Since assumption of office, Governor Sani has demonstrated a refreshing commitment to putting people first, and his administration’s human-centered approach is transforming the state in remarkable ways.

Gone are the days of aloof leadership and disconnected governance. Uba Sani’s government is marked by empathy, compassion, and a willingness to listen. From engaging with citizens on social media to hosting town hall meetings and community forums, the governor has made himself accessible to the people he serves. This openness has fostered a sense of trust and inclusivity, allowing citizens to feel heard and valued.

But it’s not just rhetoric – Uba Sani’s government is backing up its words with action. Initiatives like the Kaduna State Social Protection Programme and the Youth Empowerment Scheme are tackling poverty and unemployment head-on, providing vital support to vulnerable populations and empowering young people to build a brighter future.

The administration’s focus on education and healthcare is also yielding impressive results. Schools are being renovated, teachers are being trained, and students are receiving the resources they need to succeed. Meanwhile, healthcare facilities are being upgraded, and lifesaving programmes like the Kaduna State Health Insurance Scheme are ensuring that everyone – regardless of income or social status – has access to quality medical care.

Uba Sani’s government is also tackling the state’s infrastructure challenges with gusto. Roads are being repaired, bridges are being built, and public transportation systems are being overhauled. These investments are not only improving the quality of life for citizens but also attracting businesses and investors, driving economic growth and job creation.

What’s more, the governor’s commitment to transparency and accountability is setting a new standard for good governance in Nigeria. By opening up the state’s finances to public scrutiny and implementing robust anti-corruption measures, Uba Sani is demonstrating that government can indeed be a force for good.

In addition, the administration’s efforts to promote peace and security are paying off. Initiatives like the Kaduna State Peace and Security Programme are bringing together community leaders, security forces, and citizens to address conflicts and prevent violence. This collaborative approach is helping to build trust and foster a sense of community, making Kaduna State a safer and more harmonious place to live.

In conclusion, Uba Sani’s government is a breath of fresh air for Kaduna State. By putting people at the heart of its policies and programmes, this administration is building a more just, equitable, and prosperous society for all. As a model of compassionate leadership and effective governance, Uba Sani’s government is an inspiration to us all – and a reminder that, with the right leaders and the right mindset, Nigeria can achieve greatness.

The progress made under Uba Sani’s leadership is a testament to the power of people-centred governance. By prioritizing the needs of citizens and tackling the state’s most pressing challenges, this administration is creating a brighter future for generations to come. As Kaduna State continues to thrive under Governor Sani’s leadership, we can only hope that other states and the federal government will take note and follow suit.
