Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfried Ndidi has come under fire for his catastrophic mistake that led to Galatasaray’s equalizer in the Istanbul Derby at Rams Park.
Ndidi, who transferred to Beşiktaş from Leicester City during the summer, committed a glaring error when he surrendered possession under pressure from Lucas Torreira after a pass from goalkeeper Mert Günok.
His lapse in judgment was pivotal; İlkay Gündoğan seized the moment to score, proving costly for Beşiktaş.
Turkish pundit Ahmet Çakar did not hold back, stating: “In the second half, Galatasaray faltered, yet Beşiktaş executed their game plan effectively. It was Ndidi’s blunder that ultimately defined the match. His mishandling of the ball on the edge of the penalty area gifted the opportunity to Torreira, leading to İlikay’s goal. Beşiktaş missed out on a deserved victory due to Ndidi’s careless mistake. It’s shocking to see Galatasaray perform so poorly in this derby for the first time.”
