Turaki optimistic on resolution of PDP crisis

The Tanimu Turaki led National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) has expressed optimism that the crisis in the opposition party will be resolved.

Turaki, who stated stated this,on Wednesday, while briefing journalists, confirmed that party leaders in the divides are exploring options on how to resolve the crisis.

The PDP has been polarized since last November. While the Turaki led NWC is backed by Governors Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde of Bauchi and Oyo states respectively, the National Caretaker Committee headed by Abdulraham Mohammed enjoys the support of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT), Nyesom Wike.

However, the PDP leader. urged supporters on both sides to de-escalate inflammatory communications, so as not to jeopardize the peace talks.

“I can unequivocally confirm that, as of today, leaders on both sides have broken the ice and are exploring various pathways towards a lasting resolution. We urge our supporters across the board to immediately de-escalate high-tempered communications and actions, so as not to jeopardise the ongoing peace efforts,” Turaki stated.
