Trump says Israel-Iran ceasefire now in effect

Donald Trump

… urges both sides not to violate it

By Seyi Babalola

US President Donald Trump says the ceasefire between Israel and Iran is “now in effect” and encourages both parties not to break it.

The declaration comes after Iran launched a series of missiles towards Israel, killing at least four people in the southern city of Beersheba.

Several hours after Trump’s announcement, the Israeli government, in a statement, confirms it agrees to the ceasefire and warns it will “respond forcefully to any violation”.

Israel thanks President Trump and the United States for their support in defence and their participation in eliminating the Iranian nuclear threat,” the statement adds.

Iran earlier said it would only stop its attacks if Israel did the same.
