Donald Trump has taken to Truth Social to slam Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance, describing the Puerto Rican singer’s Spanish-language performance as “absolutely terrible” and “one of the worst, EVER.”
The U.S. president criticised the performance for being largely unintelligible, saying that the audience “couldn’t understand a single word” and that the show failed to meet American standards of “success, creativity, or excellence.” Trump went further, calling the performance a “slap in the face to our country.”
Bad Bunny, known for his energetic Spanish-language concerts, performed at the Super Bowl halftime during the clash between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, with Seattle emerging 29-13 winners. The show included surprise appearances from Lady Gaga, performing a salsa-inspired rendition of “Die With a Smile,” and Ricky Martin, singing “Lo Que Le Paso a Hawaii.”

In one memorable moment, Bunny presented a Grammy award to a young boy widely reported online to be 5-year-old Liam Ramos, though sources later clarified it was not the same child detained by ICE in Minnesota last month.
Despite Trump’s harsh critique, social media and fans largely praised the performance, highlighting Bunny’s energy, the guest appearances, and the cultural representation on the Super Bowl stage.
The halftime show has reignited debates on the role of Spanish-language music in major U.S. events, with Trump’s remarks drawing both criticism and support from his followers and the general public.
