Reports of Tesla CEO Elon Musk becoming the US President have been refuted by President-elect, Donald Trump.

Musk played a key role in Trump’s election victory over Kamala Harris, often using his X platform to garner support for the Republican candidate.

Speaking on Musk calling the shots when he is sworn in, Trump stated: “No, he’s not going to be president, that I can tell you.”

Trump who addressed supporters at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Phoenix on Sunday revealed why Musk ruling the US is not an option.

“And I’m safe. You know why? He can’t be. He wasn’t born in this country,” he added.

Alongside tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, Musk is poised to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, an agency tasked with shrinking the size of government and cutting spending.

Trump’s reassuring words come in the wake of congressional Democrats raising concerns about Musk’s influence over congressional Republicans.

They have alleged that Musk is the one in charge, with Republicans dismissing the claim as “ridiculous.”

“President Trump is the leader of the Republican Party. Full stop,” Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s incoming White House press secretary, said on the allegation.
