Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued kidnapped victims, foiled a planned abduction and arrested suspected terrorist logistics suppliers with 10 motorcycles in separate operations across Zamfara, Katsina and Kebbi states.
The operations, conducted on July 19 and 20, 2026, formed part of sustained offensives against terrorists across the North-West theatre.
In a statement, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said the troops recorded the successes through intelligence-driven operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement and disrupting their logistics network.
According to him, on July 20, troops responded swiftly to a distress call from residents of Shiyan Abiyola in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where terrorists had attempted to abduct civilians from a residence. He said the rapid intervention forced the attackers to abandon the operation and flee, leading to the successful rescue of several residents.
Following the rescue, troops dominated the area to prevent the terrorists from regrouping or launching fresh attacks.
In another operation on July 19, troops on patrol in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State rescued three kidnapped victims who escaped from a terrorist hideout after taking advantage of a heavy downpour while their captors were asleep.
The victims, who were abducted on July 14 while working on their farms in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, were safely evacuated and handed over to the appropriate authorities for reunification with their families.
Also on the same day, troops intercepted a vehicle transporting 10 motorcycles suspected to be destined for terrorist groups during a routine stop-and-search operation in Kebbi State.
Preliminary investigations led to the arrest of four additional suspects believed to have been sent to receive the motorcycles on behalf of a known terrorist collaborator.
The suspects, along with the recovered motorcycles, remain in military custody as investigations continue.
The Theatre Command commended the troops for their vigilance, professionalism and swift response, noting that the operations had further degraded terrorist activities across the North-West.
It also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies to sustain ongoing operations against terrorist and criminal networks.
