Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY), have rescued 14 kidnapped victims in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to a Tuesday statement signed by Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 2 OPFY acted on credible intelligence about terrorists moving with captives around Madaci Forest in Sabuwa LGA.
The statement said troops mobilized swiftly, made contact with the terrorists, and engaged them in a gun battle. The pressure forced the criminals to abandon their captives and flee into nearby bushes.
During exploitation of the area, troops rescued 14 victims, comprising 6 males and 8 females.
Preliminary findings showed the victims were abducted from different communities within Dandume, Bakori and Funtua areas of the state.
