Troops of the 82 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army, under Operation Eastern Sanity have rescued 12 kidnapped victims in Ette Community, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
According to a statement posted on the Army’s verified X handle on Saturday, the rescue operation that led to the rescue of the victims was carried out on Friday, March 6, 2026, following a distress call reporting the abduction of several residents by suspected kidnappers.
Acting swiftly on the alert, the troops mobilised in collaboration with police operatives, Forest Guards and members of the Neighbourhood Watch to the suspected hideout where the victims were believed to have been taken.
On arrival, the security team launched aggressive search operations and fighting patrols across the area in a bid to track down the kidnappers and secure the victims’ release.
According to security sources, the suspected kidnappers, apparently overwhelmed by the rapid response and superior firepower of the troops, abandoned their captives and fled the scene.

The troops immediately pursued the fleeing suspects while securing the area.
During a subsequent sweep of the location, all the 12 kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed.
Two suspects linked to the abduction were also arrested during the operation and are currently being interrogated to help security agencies track down other members of the criminal gang.
Meanwhile, troops of Operation Eastern Sanity have intensified patrols and surveillance across the area to prevent further criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents.
