Troops neutralise terrorist, arrest another, recover AK-47 rifle in Yobe

Nigerian Army Geidam terrorists

Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised one terrorist, arrested another and recovered an AK-47 rifle during an operation in Yobe State.

The operation was carried out on October 5 at Abakuradi village in Geidam Local Government Area of the state, following credible intelligence on the movement of terrorist elements in the area.

It was gathered that troops of 159 Battalion, in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) swiftly mobilised to the location and made contact with the terrorists.

During the encounter, one terrorist was neutralised while another was apprehended, while several others fled with suspected gunshot wounds.

A search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and one magazine.

The Army said troops are currently exploiting the area and pursuing the fleeing terrorists to prevent their regrouping.

It added that the operation underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations and collaboration with local security stakeholders in disrupting terrorist activities in the North-East.
