Troops of the 82 Division and Joint Task Force South East (Operation UDO KA) have arrested a suspected member of IPOB/ESN and recovered deadly explosives during operations in Imo State.

The suspect, Onyebuchi Dara, 28, was apprehended at Ehioma Junction in Orsu Local Government Area following intelligence linking him to attacks on security personnel.

Security sources disclosed that the suspect had previously benefited from an amnesty programme but later returned to criminal activities.

He allegedly confessed to involvement in the killing of two soldiers in 2022.

In a related operation, troops discovered and safely neutralised five Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the Akwu–Udah axis, preventing potential casualties.

Recovered items also included military and vigilante uniforms believed to have been used for impersonation.

Operations in the area are ongoing as security forces intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks.
