Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued a kidnapped woman and recovered an N8 million ransom paid by her family in Plateau State.
The operation was carried out on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Qua’an Pan Local Government .
The victim, a resident of the Bauna area in Shendam LG, was abducted on April 19.
Her family later paid N8 million ransom to secure her release, which was subsequently recovered by the troops.
Military authorities said the rescue followed credible intelligence.

Troops from Sector 9, Shendam, arrested a suspect who reportedly confessed to the crime and disclosed the victim’s location.
Acting on the information, the troops moved into Padam Forest in Qua’an Pan LG, where the victim was rescued.
She was thereafter taken to the General Hospital, Shendam, for medical examination before being reunited with her family.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, confirmed the development, stating that the operation underscored the military’s commitment to tackling criminal activities in the area.
He added that troops had intensified operations in kidnappers’ hideouts across Qua’an Pan and Shendam LGAs to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
Oteh also called on residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely information to enhance peace and security in the area.
