The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has mourned the death of Felix Onigbinde, a photojournalist with the Nigerian Tribune who covered events at the State House.

Onigbinde, an award-winning photojournalist, reportedly fell into a coma last week and was admitted to Garki General Hospital, Abuja, before his death.

The NUJ FCT Council, in a condolence statement issued on Saturday by its Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, described his death as a painful loss to the journalism profession, saying his passing had created a void among colleagues, friends and the wider media community.

The late photojournalist began his career with Daily Trust newspaper before joining the Nigerian Tribune, where he worked until his death.

Through his work behind the camera, Onigbinde documented events and told stories in pictures, contributing to the media’s responsibility of informing the public.

The council extended its condolences to the management and staff of the Nigerian Tribune, the Photojournalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN), his colleagues, friends and professional associates.

It also commiserated with his immediate family, particularly his wife and two children, who have been left to bear the loss of their husband and father.

Onigbinde hailed from Ife Modakeke in Ife East Local Government Area of Osun State.

The NUJ FCT Council prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and for God to comfort his wife, children, extended family, colleagues and all those mourning his death.
