A nongovernmental organisation, Face Of Waziri-Nigeria (FOWN), has called on the judges handling the presidential election petition to be courageous and not bow to pressures as they pass judgment on the outcome of the February 25 presidential election.
The call, according to the organisation’s Director General, Mr. Bukky Adeniyi, became necessary because the possibility of having an independent judiciary under President Bola Tinubu-led administration is doubtful. The group, which traced Tinubu’s antecedents, submitted that it was fraught with deceit and inconsistency.
A statement on Thursday by Adeniyi noted that Tinubu’s desperation depicts a man whose life’s strategy remains the use of coercion and forceful means to get anything he wants.
The group sounded a note of warning to Nigerians not to expect anything good from Tinubu, adding that his past records are riddled with lots of disjointed and illogical frames.
“We at FOWN, given our resolve to always intimate Nigerians about important developments, will like to urge Nigerians to think and think again quite deeply about the hoax personified as Tinubu.
“He glitched the iREV server, cooked election results, switched the numbers and stole the mandate and you expect him not to fix the judges. Think again. He is doing it as we speak. The question is: Will they let him? Shall we let them? Will he fool us again?” the statement read in part.
Adeniyi noted that Tinubu clearly has baggage of discrepancies with his person and would likely corrupt all the gamuts of Nigeria’s existence.
He said: “He forged every single thing about him, ranging from his parentage to his age, his hometown and state of origin. He claimed schools he never attended; allegedly earned certificates he never worked for and even doctored his gender at some point.
“He did drugs and covered his tracks, laundered money and made a deal, masqueraded as National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) and pro-democracy activist and silenced political opposition.”
As Governor of Lagos State, he sacked capable deputies, installed lame ducks, and cornered the state’s vaults.
We, at FOWN felt the need to give this trajectory so as to refresh our memories and drive home the point that Nigeria should not build their hopes high on him. “He skipped debates and town halls parley to hide his ignorance. He ignored public opinions and poll results. He shouted ‘Emi Lokan,’ when others were saying, ‘Vote for me.’ He bought the soul of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while others sought the votes of the people,” he added.
