Transworld Security has honoured four of its security operatives for their vigilance, courage and professionalism after they helped foil an attempted vandalism and theft of five brand-new Hilux vehicles at a client’s premises.
The award recipients are Miracle Asabe, Okeke Sunday, Jimoh Al-Ameen and Jimoh Taofeek.
The company also commended members of its Operations Team for their swift response, coordination and effective intervention during the incident.
Presenting the awards, the Managing Director of Transworld Security, Dr. Victoria Ekhomu, said the company was pleased to recognise the operatives for demonstrating exceptional alertness and courage during the early hours of the morning.
According to her, the incident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. when a burglar knocked on the client’s gate and subsequently gained unauthorised access to the premises being protected by Transworld Security.
Ekhomu said the security officers refused to ignore the unusual activity, but immediately raised the alarm and contacted the company’s Operations Team.
She explained that the Operations Team responded promptly by notifying the client’s Chief Security Officer and contacting the police.
“At about 3:00 a.m., members of the Operations Team proceeded to the client’s location, with Godwin Ikpe providing transportation, and supported the security response,” she said.
She noted that the prompt action and effective coordination of the security personnel contributed significantly to the apprehension of the suspects and prevented the possible theft of the five vehicles.
The Transworld chief said the incident had also exposed the growing security challenge posed by insider threats, revealing that two members of the five-man gang were employees of the client.
She therefore stressed the need for organisations to protect themselves against both external and internal vulnerabilities.
Ekhomu commended the four operatives for remaining vigilant despite the incident occurring in the early hours of the morning.

She also recognised Felix Igwe and John Abah, members of the Operations Team, for their prompt coordination and response.
In recognition of their performance, the company presented the officers with award plaques, letters of commendation and cash gifts.
Ekhomu said the recognition was not merely a reward for the officers but also a demonstration of Transworld Security’s commitment to encouraging professional excellence, vigilance, courage and integrity among its personnel.
She emphasised that security work goes beyond standing at gates or controlling access, noting that effective security involves preventing incidents, detecting abnormal situations early, responding appropriately, protecting people and assets, and reducing risks.
According to her, observation and alertness remain among the most important tools available to a security officer.
She urged security personnel to pay close attention to suspicious movements, unusual sounds, unauthorised visitors and unexplained activities, noting that such observations could provide early warnings of potential threats.
She added that professional security officers must understand what they are protecting, the vulnerabilities of their assigned locations, authorised access procedures, suspicious behaviour, emergency reporting channels and the appropriate actions to take while awaiting assistance.
Ekhomu further urged organisations to strengthen their internal security measures, particularly in view of the discovery that two of the suspects were employees of the client.
She recommended appropriate employee screening and background checks, effective access control, proper management of keys and access cards, CCTV monitoring, visitor management, asset-control procedures, staff movement controls, exit procedures and efficient incident-reporting mechanisms.
She stressed that while trust remained important in organisational relationships, security controls must always be maintained.
The Transworld chief urged security personnel to remain vigilant, professional, courageous and alert, stressing that security was a collective responsibility.
The company said the recognition of the four operatives was aimed at reinforcing the importance of diligence and prompt action in protecting people, property and organisational assets.
It added that the gesture would also motivate personnel to uphold high professional standards and respond decisively whenever security threats arise at client’s premises.
