Across Nigeria’s rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, one thing is becoming unmistakably clear, the future of medicine is digital.

That vision came alive recently in Enugu, where Interswitch took centre stage at the 111th Regular Meeting and 2025 Annual Meeting of Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) and Managing Directors (MDs) of Federal and State Hospitals (CCMDFTH).

The gathering, which held from October 14 to 17, 2025, was hosted by the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) at the Best Western Hotel, Independence Layout, Enugu, with the theme “Smarter Processes, Better Healthcare.”

The four-day workshop brought together healthcare leaders, policymakers, and technology partners from across the country to explore how innovation and digital transformation can strengthen healthcare delivery, enhance administrative efficiency, and make quality care more accessible to all Nigerians.

Among the notable highlights of the conference was Interswitch’s strong presence through a vibrant exhibition booth, live product demonstrations, and a technical presentation that sparked insightful discussions on the role of technology in healthcare transformation.

From the first day of the conference, the Interswitch booth quickly became one of the most visited spots at the venue, as delegates trooped in to interact with the company’s digital health experts and explore its cutting-edge solutions.

During the exhibition tour led by Prof. Emem Bassey, Chairman of the Committee of CMDs and MDs, participants engaged with the Interswitch’s health ecosystem team, who demonstrated how digital innovation is driving a new era of smarter, data-driven healthcare delivery across the country.

Interswitch showcased three of its flagship digital health platforms including Health Information Management System (HIMS), eClinic, and Smarthealth, each designed to address critical pain points within Nigeria’s healthcare value chain.

HIMS connects healthcare providers, HMOs, and subscribers through a unified digital platform that streamlines processing of claims, facilitates real-time data exchange, and improves communication across the care continuum.

eClinic helps hospitals transition from paper-based operations to comprehensive electronic medical records, enabling faster service delivery and real-time access to patient information. On the other hand, Smarthealth empowers individuals to take charge of their well-being through telemedicine, medical geolocation, symptom checking, and personalised wellness tracking, creating a more connected, proactive healthcare experience.

During the event, Babatunde Fadeyi, Vice President, Health Ecosystem (Public Sector), Industry Ecosystem and Platforms (Interswitch Indeco), delivered a presentation that underscored the company’s commitment to using technology as an enabler of better care outcomes. “Interswitch is committed to it’s vision of building a connected ecosystem where technology links hospitals, HMOs, and patients for smarter, data-driven care,” he revealed.

Participants commended Interswitch for its innovative, locally developed solutions that are not only scalable but tailored to the realities of Nigeria’s healthcare system. Hospital administrators noted how the company’s technology offers a practical bridge between efficiency, accessibility, and transparency in service delivery.

Beyond showcasing products, Interswitch’s participation reflected its long-standing role as a catalyst for Africa’s digital transformation. For more than two decades, the company has powered secure payment systems and technology infrastructure across key sectors such as finance, energy, transportation, and education. Its expansion into digital health, therefore, is not a new direction but a natural progression that aligns perfectly with its mission to simplify and modernise everyday life through technology.

By leveraging its deep expertise in digital infrastructure, data management, and secure payments, Interswitch is helping healthcare providers and payers build systems that are smarter, more connected, data-driven, and patient-centered. The 2025 CMDs and MDs meeting in Enugu reaffirmed that the future of healthcare in Nigeria is already unfolding, and Interswitch is leading the charge toward smarter, more sustainable health systems for all.
