Manchester United are monitoring Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey as they consider strengthening their defence ahead of the 2027 transfer window.
The Premier League giants are reportedly impressed with the Nigerian international’s performances for Fulham this season and have added him to their list of potential defensive targets.
According to TEAMtalk, United’s football department has been following Bassey’s progress, with interest in the defender growing as he approaches the final months of his current contract.
Bassey’s deal with Fulham is expected to expire next summer, although the club have the option to extend it by another year. The London-based side are also interested in agreeing fresh terms with the 26-year-old.
Manchester United are considering changes to their defence, with Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire all approaching the final year of their contracts.
The situation has prompted the club to assess possible replacements as they prepare for a major defensive rebuild.
However, United are not the only club interested in Bassey. Newcastle United and Everton are also reportedly monitoring the former Rangers defender.
Italian giants Inter Milan, alongside German clubs Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, are also said to be tracking his situation.
Bassey has established himself as an important member of Fulham’s squad this season and has also been trusted with the captain’s armband.
His ability to play both centre-back and left-back, coupled with his Premier League experience, has reportedly made him an attractive option for several clubs.
