It was tragedy galore these past few days in Abia State following the reported killing, in what is believed to be a reprisal attack, of a man who allegedly set his wife and three kids ablaze at their home in Asaumudim in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of the state.

This is even as a suspected rapist whose name was given as Chinazum Nwabani, 33, has macheted a 14-year-old girl into a coma at Obete Nchina Village, Ntighauzo community in Obingwa council area of Abia State.

The alleged murderer, identified as Udochukwu and hailed from Onicha Ngwa, in Obingwa Local Government Area of the state, was a shoemaker who lived at Asaumudim with his family before the incident happened.

There were two accounts to the incident. One account had it that the man was suspicious his wife was having an affair with another man.

According to this account, the man was said to have while the wife and his three kids were asleep, poured fuel inside their apartment and set them ablaze.

Another account had it that the man took the lives of his wife and three children as a result of hardship.

This angle of the story had it that the wife of the man had visited him at his shop earlier in the day of the incident to collect money for feeding, but the man was said not to be able to meet the wife’s demand, resulting in some altercation.

Udochukwu was said to have returned home angry as a result of the wife’s approach which led him into taken the dastardly action when they were asleep.

Udochukwu who was reported to have been arrested after the incident by some locals, was later said to have been found dead a day after the incident.

Police was yet to confirm this.

In another incident, a suspected rapist identified as Chinazum Nwaubani, has macheted a 14 year old girl to coma at Obete Nchina Village, Ntighauzo community in Obingwa council area of Abia State.

The girl was said to have gone to work I’m their farm with her mates in the village when they were attacked with a machete by Chinazum.

The suspect allegedly attempted to rape the 14 year old whose name was given as Felicia, but was resisted.

It was gathered that unable to have his way, Chinazum pulled a machete and gave the girl deep cuts on her head, leg and hand, leaving her in a pool of blood and fled, as the girl went into coma.

Father of the victim, Chijioke Anaba said his family was alerted to the incident by Felicia’s mates who escaped the attack.

He lamented that his daughter lost consciousness because of too much loss of blood from the machete cuts when the search party rescued her from the bush.

Anaba who said the incident has been reported to the police, expressed fear
the suspect who hails from the same village may be released from custody to return to continue his attack on his family.

He further stated that the Police had told him that the suspect is mentally deranged, which he said was not true.

He called on the wife of the Governor of Abia State, Mrs Priscilla Otti, to come to the aid of his daughter as she may be disabled following the deep machete cuts inflicted on her by the suspect.

Confirming the incident, the state command’s PPRO, Maureen Chinaka in a statement said police received a report that the twin children (male and female) of one Chijioke John of Nchina in Obingwa LGA went to their farm to work.

However, while at the farm, one Chinazum Nwaubani, aged 33 years and a resident of the same village, allegedly approached them armed with a machete.

“He reportedly grabbed the female twin, ordered her to lie down and remove her clothes. When she refused, the suspect allegedly attacked her with the machete, inflicting injuries on her head, back, and leg. Her twin brother managed to escape and ran home to report the incident”, the statement added.

Chinaka said the suspect was arrested and the investigation has started.
