Tragedy struck in Aba, Abia State, last week, when an unidentified man said to be in his mid-30s reportedly fell off a moving train and died.
Eyewitness accounts had it that the train was heading to Port Harcourt from Aba when the incident occurred inside the city.
It was gathered that the deceased, alongside several other passengers, were said to be hanging on top of the moving train, a dangerous practice reported to be common among some commuters who try to avoid paying the appropriate fares.

Sources revealed that the victim, while on top of the moving train, lost his balance and fell off from the rooftop of the train, landed on the rail track and died instantly.
Reports from the city indicated that the victim’s body remained on the rail track along Uratta Road, behind Aba–Port Harcourt Road, for several hours after the incident without being removed.
A resident of the city, Kalu Okorie, who spoke on the incident, warned those traveling by train not to engage in acts that would endanger their lives, such as hanging on the roof of a moving train, for whatever reason, because it is dangerous.
