Trafficking: 2-year old boy rescued as police arrest 2 suspects in Delta

A two-year old boy, Ridwan Ibrahim, has been rescued by operatives of the Delta State Police Command in Issele-Azagba, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.

Little Ibrahim got missing on August 2 while playing with other children in a compound in Jaret area of Asaba where his mother led the family to visit a relative.

He was rescued on August 3 following intelligence-led investigation, at the neighbouring Issele-Azagba, according to the Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Bright Edafe.

Edafe in a statement on Saturday, said two suspects in connection with the alleged trafficking saga, were already cooling off in police custody.

He gave the names of the suspects as Mallam Sa’ad Ahmed Baba (57) and a 25-year old lady, Halima Abubakar, both of Cable Point area of Asaba.

Saying that the matter was still being investigated, Edafe also confirmed the arrest of one Ifeoma Sunday, who is suspected to be notorious cultist believed to be terrorizing Aghalokpe community in Okpe Local Government Area.

Edafe stated that the suspect has been on the wanted list of operatives for his alleged involvement in an earlier reported case of attempted murder, arson, armed robbery.

According to Edafe, the suspect “was sighted in the community parading with a gun,” before patrol teams were mobilised “to the community where the suspect was arrested and one locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun, one expended cartridge were recovered from him.

“The suspect and exhibit are in custody while investigation is ongoing.”
