Turkish Super Lig club, Trabzonspor is set to file a criminal complaint against Super Eagles defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel.
Recall the Nigerian was involved in an altercation with a fan during Fenerbahce’s 3-2 win against Trabzonspor on Sunday.
Initially, Osayi-Samuel and his Yellow Canaries teammates defended themselves against the unruly crowd, but then sought refuge by fleeing into the tunnel from the clearly outnumbering hooligans.
Videos from the incident showed a pitch invader approaching the Fenerbahce players in a fighting stance before several team members – including right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel, who swung a punch, pounced him upon.
According to Leo Sports, Trabzonspor claim the Nigerian made provocative gestures towards the home fans as he celebrated with his teammates on the pitch after the win.
Recall Osayi-Samuel could be banned from football for three months or a year if he’s found to have gone the extra mile while defending himself against the fan.
Meanwhile, Fenebache fans have hailed Osayi-Samuel after showing his fighting skills to wade off opposition fans.
Fenerbahce’s fans, recognizing Osayi-Samuel’s bravery, rallied behind him as the team returned to Istanbul, as reported by Talk Sports.
Chants of his name echoed through the air, accompanied by gestures of admiration and support from the devoted supporters.
Osayi’s courageous act of facing an assaulter during the breakout fight has given him recognition amongst Fenerbahce’s fans.
