Global energy titan, TotalEnergies, has recently extended its partnership with Northern Ocean, securing the services of the cutting-edge Deepsea Mira semi-submersible rig for an additional three months in West Africa. This strategic move not only underscores the rig’s remarkable capabilities but also solidifies the strong bond between these industry leaders.
The Deepsea Mira, a marvel of modern engineering, boasts a formidable profile. Built by the renowned Hyundai Heavy Industries, this 6th-generation rig, designed for depths exceeding 10,000 feet, has consistently proven its mettle in the most challenging offshore environments. Its dynamic positioning and anchor-mooring systems, coupled with its robust construction, ensure optimal performance even in harsh conditions.
The contract extension, anticipated to generate an additional revenue stream of $27 million to $38 million for Northern Ocean, significantly enhances the company’s backlog, propelling it to an impressive range of $515 million to $545 million.
“This extension not only solidifies our good relationship with TotalEnergies but also demonstrates the reliability and advanced capabilities of the Deepsea Mira,” remarked Arne Jacobsen, Chief Executive Officer of Northern Ocean. He further emphasised that this collaboration transcends mere contractual obligations, representing a shared commitment to innovation and operational excellence within the energy sector.
The strategic move by TotalEnergies not only reaffirms the Deepsea Mira’s status as a premier offshore drilling asset but also reflects unwavering confidence in Northern Ocean’s ability to deliver high-performance solutions, bolstered by the expertise of Odfjell Drilling in navigating complex offshore operations.
The contract extension serves as a powerful testament to the burgeoning demand for advanced offshore drilling solutions as energy companies intensify their exploration efforts in key regions worldwide.
The Deepsea Mira, a symbol of technological prowess and operational excellence, stands poised to continue its remarkable journey, paving the way for future successes in the ever-evolving energy landscape.
