Heavy rainfall that swept across Lagos yesterday wreaked havoc, spreading pains and agony.
Many were rendered homeless as floods took over several people’s homes. Many were stranded on the road as the flood caused heavy gridlock. Some warehouses were destroyed by the surging floods. Many businessmen lost millions to the flood that invaded their shops and warehouses, destroying goods worth millions of Naira
Many residents rained curses on the Lagos State Government over the recurring flooding that submerged major roads, stranded motorists, disrupted commercial activities and left homes underwater across the metropolis.

The downpour, which lasted for several hours yesterday, flooded major roads across Lagos. From Gbagada to Iyana Ipaja, Ikorodu Road, Ikeja, Maryland, Mushin, Ogudu, Lekki, Oshodi, Agege, Alimosho, Obalende, Apapa, Ago Palace way and Amuwo Odofin, among others, the story is the same.
Many commuters trekked long distances after commercial transport operators suspended services due to rising floodwaters. Some parked cars in some areas were submerged in the flood.
Motorists stayed off the road and even those who attempted to work found it difficult navigating their way as most places were flooded. The rain started in some areas from 3am and rained all through the day. It was a terrible day for Lagosians.
