A Port Harcourt-based socio-cultural group, Niger Delta Alliance for Economic Survival, NDAES, has alleged that some top management staff and contractors with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has perfected plans with some key officers of the National Assembly to frustrate the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to reconstitute the board of the Commission.
Minister of Niger Delta Affairs had hinted that list of nominees for the board had been submitted to the Senate.
He assured that as soon as the Senate reconvened after their recess it would announce the list.
In a statement, president of the Group, Mr. Tubonemi Chibisi, said they had information that some management staff and big contractors have perfected plans with acting Managing director of the commission to get the Senate to sit on the list to perpetrate the continuous balkanisation of the Commission’s monthly allocation.
It claimed the contractors who have form cartel and have become notorious in the Commission are led by a particular contractor from the South East with a strong grip on the current leadership at the Commission.
The group further accuses the minister of the Niger Delta Affairs of complicity in the plan to sabotage the good intentions of the Federal Government.
The group has, therefore, called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC )and other security agencies to investigate the allegation in order to save the Commission from further stealing of the commonwealth of the people by a few selfish enemies of the region.
