Tompolo donates 30 campaign vehicles, says Tinubu deserves second term

Niger Delta leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has donated 30 vehicles to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in Imo State, declaring that the President deserves another four years to consolidate his economic reforms and complete ongoing development programmes.

Tompolo, who made the donation on Tuesday during the inauguration of the Imo State chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, described Tinubu as a courageous leader who had demonstrated his commitment to Nigeria by embarking on difficult economic reforms shortly after assuming office in May 2023.

Represented by the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Limited, Kestin Pondi, he said the vehicles and other resources were provided to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and support Governor Hope Uzodimma and other political leaders working for the President’s re-election.

“Our President, President Bola Tinubu, is a very courageous man. A man who puts Nigeria first. A man who loves Nigeria more than he loves himself.

“A man who loves Nigeria more than the office that he is vying for. When he came into office, he did not do the normal calculations that politicians usually do. He came in and said that he wants to reform Nigeria,” Tompolo said through his representative.

Pondi told the gathering that the 30 vehicles would be deployed to support the movement’s activities across Imo State, particularly its efforts to reach voters at the grassroots.

“Your Excellency, we have come with vehicles. We have come with resources. These vehicles you have seen, there are 30 of them. We brought them to Imo State to support you in your cause to re-elect President Bola Tinubu,” he said.

He assured Uzodimma that the movement would work closely with the state government and political leaders to carry the President’s campaign to households, communities and local government areas.

“Your Excellency, the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Imo State is at your beck and call. Anytime you need them, call them. Give them instructions. Tell them how you want them to campaign,” Pondi declared.

Speaking at the event, Uzodimma commended Tompolo for providing resources to support the campaign, describing the movement as an important partner in efforts to secure another term for the President.

The governor said his assessment of the administration’s performance had convinced him that Tinubu should be allowed to complete the economic and development programmes initiated since assuming office.

“When we preach the Gospel about the All Progressives Congress government of President Bola Tinubu, we started, we were not many. But as the days go by, the efforts and activities of the government begin to trickle in. Nigerians begin to see the man called Bola Tinubu in his true colour,” Uzodimma said.

He acknowledged that although the administration had recorded achievements, several outstanding challenges remained, arguing that another term would provide an opportunity to consolidate the reforms and address unfinished programmes.

“We have assessed the achievements of President Bola Tinubu. And we have seen the good things he brought. We have also seen so many things he is also yet to do.

“And we decided to lead the crusade that will enable him to complete his good work. We have taken that decision,” he declared.

Uzodimma praised Tompolo for his contributions to the President’s re-election campaign, saying the provision of vehicles and other resources would strengthen the movement’s ability to reach communities across the state.

He also endorsed the door-to-door strategy, describing it as an opportunity for campaigners to explain the administration’s policies and programmes directly to Nigerians.

“We are partners in progress. We work with you. We do the work. We elect the President,” the governor said.

Earlier, National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Sunday Asuku, urged Nigerians to remain patient with the administration’s economic reforms, arguing that the difficulties associated with the policies would eventually give way to long-term benefits.

Asuku maintained that Tinubu had laid a foundation for economic development since assuming office and required another four years to consolidate the measures.

“The message we must tell today is simple and short. Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has sent us to make you understand that things might be rough, but Nigeria is on the right trajectory,” he said.

He acknowledged the economic hardships experienced by Nigerians but insisted that structural reforms often involved difficult adjustments before their anticipated benefits became evident.

“Where there is reform, we are expected to go through some pains. But it is a pain that guarantees long-term prosperity. And we can get through for sure,” Asuku said.

The national coordinator also challenged opposition politicians to account for their performance in previous public offices, maintaining that Nigerians should examine their records and policy proposals ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said the movement would continue its grassroots mobilisation across towns, communities and households in preparation for the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

Also speaking, Imo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Austine Onyedebelu, highlighted the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms and the state government’s infrastructure programmes.

Onyedebelu identified petrol subsidy removal, foreign exchange reforms, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the increase in the national minimum wage to ₦70,000 as major policies introduced under the administration.

He urged party members and supporters to intensify engagement with residents and explain the government’s programmes at the grassroots.

The Imo launch is part of a broader mobilisation drive by the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, which has distributed campaign vehicles and inaugurated political structures in several states ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Earlier in October, the movement announced the deployment of 32 vehicles to Oyo State, 34 to Kwara State and 52 to Ondo and Gombe states, with Tompolo represented at the events by Pondi.

The latest donation extends the movement’s campaign activities to Imo State, where Uzodimma has pledged to work with its leadership in supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid.
