President Bola Tinubu has identified with the Tiv people of Benue on the occasion of the Tiv Day Celebration, restating the Federal Government’s commitment to national unity, inclusiveness, and cultural preservation.
The theme of this year’s Tiv Day Celebration is “The Rebirth of the Tiv Nation.”
President Tinubu, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, described cultural heritage as a defining force that gives a people a sense of identity and belonging.
He noted that cultural heritage is the fabric that binds communities together and preserves traditions, values, and history for future generations.
The President commended the Tiv people for their contributions to national development and their courageous role during the civil war in defending Nigeria’s unity.
He joined the Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty, Professor James Ayatse, the Tiv Area Traditional Council and Tiv sons and daughters worldwide in prayers for a peaceful and successful celebration, and also prayed for long life, good health, and wisdom for the Tor Tiv in guiding his people.
Reiterating his administration’s focus, the President said the Renewed Hope Agenda prioritises economic transformation, infrastructure development, social progress, food security, job creation, and good governance.
He added that ongoing reforms and development initiatives across key sectors were aimed at placing Nigeria on a firm path of equity, stability, and sustainable growth.

He urged Tiv and Benue political leaders to work together for the peace and growth of Tiv land and Benue State in general.
The Tor Tiv, Orchivirigh Professor James Ayatse, expressed gratitude to God for His protection and assistance to celebrate this day and appreciated President Tinubu for sending the SGF to represent him.
He said, “We still recall your visit after the killings in the state recently and the positive steps you have taken to improve security in Benue.”
He commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for the financial and moral support that made this year’s celebration possible after postponing it for several years owing to insecurity.
He said, “As we rejoice during this occasion, let us heal ourselves from the social and political wounds we inflicted on ourselves consciously and unconsciously.
The Tor Tiv expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) to free Nigerians, especially those in Benue, from incessant attacks.
The President General of Mzough U Tiv, Chief Iorbee Ihagh, appreciated the President, the SGF, Governor Alia and all honourees for honouring the invitation, urging the President to enhance security efforts in Benue to enable displaced people to go back home to farm and feed the nation.
