The Nigerian Presidency has reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to religious neutrality and national unity, stressing his impartial treatment of all faith communities.
Special Adviser on Media and Communications Sunday Dare made this statement on Sunday on his verified X account (@SundayDareSD) during Tinubu’s visit to the Vatican for the inaugural Mass of Pope Leo XIV.
“President Tinubu leads a multi-religious nation and remains unbiased against any,” Dare wrote. “His creed: though tribe, tongue and religion may differ, in nationhood we stand — united.”

He spoke of Tinubu’s inclusive leadership, noting his accompaniment by four prominent Nigerian clergymen to the Vatican as a testament to his respect for all religions.
Tinubu attended the Mass in Rome, joining global leaders to mark the new pontificate. He shared a brief but warm interaction with Pope Leo XIV, symbolising mutual respect. The visit underscores Tinubu’s dedication to interfaith dialogue, religious tolerance, and strengthening Nigeria’s ties with the Vatican and the international community, promoting peace and unity across religious and cultural lines.
