President Bola Tinubu will, on November 19, unveil a six-volume publication chronicling commentaries on some landmark cases handled by Chief Wole Olanipekun over the course of five decades since his call to the Nigerian Bar in 1976.

The publication, titled “Wole Olanipekun Through the Cases”, highlights some of the contributions of Chief Olanipekun to the development of Nigerian law and jurisprudence.

With forewords written by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, GCON, JSC, and the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, the publication, put together to commemorate Chief Olanipekun’s five decades of engagement with the Nigerian legal system, presents an extensive examination of his distinguished legal career through a collection of cases reflecting the breadth of his advocacy and legal engagements.

A statement by Wole Olanipekun & Co said the unveiling of the publication by President Tinubu on 19 November 2026 would come 24 hours after Chief Olanipekun’s 75th birthday.

Born on 18 November 1951, Chief Olanipekun became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in July 1991, a few months before his 40th birthday.

He was appointed Attorney-General of the old Ondo State in 1992 and subsequently became President of the Nigerian Bar Association in 2002.

Among other roles, he also served as Chairman of the Body of Benchers between 2022 and 2023.

He is presently the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of his alma mater, the University of Lagos, having previously served in the same capacity at the University of Ibadan and Ajayi Crowther University, where he now serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees.

He is also currently the Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology in his home town, Ikere-Ekiti.

Over the course of 50 years as a lawyer and 35 years as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Olanipekun has handled significant cases that have had defining impacts on Nigeria’s jurisprudence, including a record of acting successively as lead counsel to all four presidents of Nigeria from 2007 to date in the defence of legal challenges to their elections.

Those cases, among others, are examined in the publication, which boasts a wide array of contributors, including retired jurists, scholars, senior advocates and practitioners of repute across the country.

The presidential unveiling of “Wole Olanipekun Through the Cases” will attract major policymakers and leading legal, political, economic and commercial players.

The event will hold under the auspices of the WOC Justice Summit, an initiative of Wole Olanipekun & Co. that periodically convenes thought leaders and other stakeholders to engage in discussions on justice sector deliverables.

The theme of this year’s summit is “From Precedent to Possibility: The Lawyer’s Role in Shaping the Next Fifty Years of Justice, Democracy and Public Trust”.

The impact of the conversations is expected to be profound, considering the calibre of the audience expected.

This year’s event will also afford a veritable platform to reflect on, and celebrate, Chief Olanipekun’s five-decade journey in the legal profession and the significance of his contributions to Nigerian jurisprudence, as documented through the cases featured in the publication.

Further details regarding the summit, including the full programme and participating personalities, are expected before the event.
