President Bola Tinubu has announced a reshuffle of Nigeria’s Service Chiefs to strengthen the nation’s security architecture.
In a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, General Olufemi Oluyede is appointed Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa. Major-General W. Shaibu is now the new Chief of Army Staff. Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke is named Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral I. Abbas takes over as Chief of Naval Staff. Major-General E.A.P. Undienda-ye retains his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

In a statement, the President expresses profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff and other service chiefs for their patriotic service and leadership, and charges the new appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by advancing professionalism, vigilance, and camaraderie within the Armed Forces of Nigeria. All appointments take immediate effect.
The statement said: “The President charges the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them to further enhance the professionalism, vigilance and comradeship that define the Armed Forces of Nigeria.”
