President Bola Tinubu is set to return to Abuja today after a six-day stay in Lagos, where he marked Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary and attended the national premiere of a documentary on the late Chief MKO Abiola and the June 12 struggle.
Tinubu is scheduled to depart Lagos for Abuja this evening, according to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The President arrived in Lagos on Tuesday, September 29, after spending his annual vacation in London and Paris.
His Lagos engagements included his October 1 national address to Nigerians to mark the country’s 66th Independence anniversary.
Later that day, Tinubu attended the National Premiere of MKO, a documentary chronicling the life and political struggle of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola, as well as his enduring legacy and the historic June 12 pro-democracy struggle.
On Sunday, the President visited the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Akiolu, at the monarch’s Iga Iduganran Palace on Lagos Island.
The President’s return to Abuja marks the end of his six-day engagement in the former seat of government.
